Senate Considers Lowering Medicare Eligibility and Addressing Prescription Drug Costs

This fall, Senate Democrats are putting together their $3.5 trillion Budget Reconciliation package that will touch on a wide range of federal programs – including Medicare. The Senate Finance Committee, which has jurisdiction over the Medicare program, has been instructed to consider policy that will expand the Medicare program to include dental and hearing benefits and to consider lowering the Medicare age eligibility. Further, the Senate Finance Committee will likely address policy to lower prescription drug costs for Medicare beneficiaries.
