House Subcommittee Recommends Increase for VA Research

This week, the House Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee released the chair’s mark of the FY23 appropriations bill funding VA programs. The bill provides:

  • $118.8 billion for Veterans Medical Care, an increase of $21.8 billion above the 2022 enacted level and $66 million above the budget request.

  • $926 million is for Medical and Prosthetic Research, an increase of $44 million above the 2022 enacted level and $10 million above the budget request.

Please note this is an early step in the process and that the bill will go through several more steps before final numbers are established. The ATS will continue to advocate in Congress for VA research program funding.
