Supreme Court Rejects Request to Stay Implementation of California Flavored Tobacco Ban
In December, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Big Tobacco’s request to block implementation of a state law banning the sale of flavored tobacco products in California. California voters two years ago adopted a state ballot initiative to ban the sale of flavored tobacco products. Big Tobacco has challenged the ban in court, however the U.S. Supreme Court’s refusal to issue a stay of implementation means that the California ban can be implemented while the courts consider challenges to the California law. California joins Massachusetts as the second state to enact a ban on the sale of flavored tobacco products.
